Yes, I know, we have only just gone into November and we still have another 7 weeks or so until Christmas. However, November is when all the Christmas celebrations begin and in London, the Christmas markets are amazing! I have heard so much about these markets that I absolutely couldn’t wait to do a post on them.
So keep on reading if you are as excited about the holiday festive season as I am.
*1: Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park
Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is incredible! It literally encompasses everything you would want a Christmas market to be like. This year they will have everything from warm winter treats, to ice rinks and sculptures, stand up comedy shows, musicals, workshops and so much more! The market is open from the 22nd of November – 6th of January and is normally open all day until about 10pm. I would probably recommend going before the schools are on holiday- that way it won’t be as packed!
*2: Southbank Centre Winter Market
What could be better than sipping on hot spiced cider whilst taking in the view of the Thames? Southbank Centre Christmas Market has to be one of the most festive spots around during the Christmas season. From little homemade stalls to buzzing restaurants and great music – this is the place to be. The market opens mid November and goes until just after Christmas. Again- it is open until about 10pm and the nearest station is Waterloo.
*3: Leicester Square Christmas Market
Right in the middle of Leicester Square you will be able to find every child’s best friend… Santa AND a whole bunch of tasty treat stalls. While the children have some Santa fun, the adults can enjoy watching a burlesque/drag show whilst sipping on a glass of vino or two. This market is definitely catering for everyone. It is open from the 9th of November – 6th of January 2019. Entry is free but tickets must be purchased for the shows.
*4: Winterville Clapham Common
Winterville is definitely the Christmas “town” you want to visit! Why do I call it a town? Well, because that is literally how they have designed it to be. It has everything from adventure golf, to comedy shows, Santa visits, foodie stalls, cinema’s, live Dj’s, disco’s and so much more. Open from the 15th of November – 23rd of December– Tuesday is free and every other day is GBP2.00 or GBP5.00 after 6pm on weekends. Under 16’s and SW4 residents have free access throughout. It closes at 10pm during the week and 10:30pm on weekends.
*5: Kingston Christmas Market
This Kingston market reminds me so much of my Christmas experience in Birmingham, Michigan. It is made up of the cutest wooden chalets, which surround Kingston Upon Thames’ ancient market place. It has a real historical feel to it. This is a market where you can buy the most unique gifts and try the most unusual food. From mulled wine to a candy cane forest, this is a must do during the Christmas season. Of course, this is also on Santa’s schedule and opens from the 15th of November until Christmas– so definitely put this one on your bucket list!
London is magical during the festive season and turns into the most beautiful canvas of lights. I am so excited to explore more of what it has to offer and cannot wait for all the markets to start. If you are wondering where I will be over the next few weeks- you can find me sipping on spiced cider and eating every Christmas treat insight!
