One thing I have realized about London is there is SO much to do! A few weekends ago, Craig and I ventured off to the famous Portobello Market in Notting Hill- what a vibe. From fresh fruit and veg to vintage clothing and reggae music, it has it all. Keep reading to find out more.
We all know the movie Notting Hill right? The one with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts… “I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her”, that one? It gets me every time! But seriously, Notting Hill was made famous because of the movie. There is that very well known scene where Hugh is walking down Portobello Road and he walks and walks for days… literally. The seasons even start changing. Well, that was pretty much our experience of the market, minus Hugh Grant and a huge film crew.
Portobello market is awesome! If you haven’t been there and you live in London, then you are most definitely missing out. It’s absolutely enormous and has everything you could imagine. We ended up buying some super quirky and fun socks from Jelly Jolly Socks and later bought some fresh avo’s and mangoes for under 5 pounds! There’s also great music depending how far along on the road you are- which adds to the ambiance created by the constant hustle and bustle of tourists.
Notting Hill is famous for their colorful houses, which I might add, cannot be missed as they start at the very beginning of the road ( if you didn’t realize already, Portobello road is VERY long). How annoying it must be to be one of those home owners that constantly have random people taking pictures of your front door. But as a member of the public and someone who went there to get “that shot”, I am most definitely not complaining, lol!
Unfortunately, I didn’t take too many pics of the actual market BUT if you go on over to myself and Craig’s joint travel Instagram account @acouplesteps you can check out all our highlights on the market.

There will be many more posts like this to come – so watch this space for more info on what to get up to in London and surrounds because… its magical!
